Online casino play in Alberta

Alberta opened a regulated online gaming market on July 13, 2026, managed by the Alberta iGaming Corporation and regulated by AGLC. From that date, a legal online casino needs AGLC registration and an AiGC agreement, and AiGC's directory lists the sites that qualify.

How the market is set up

Alberta's regulated online gaming market launched on July 13, 2026. The Alberta iGaming Corporation, or AiGC, manages the market, and AGLC regulates it. To operate legally, an online operator must register with AGLC and sign an operating agreement with AiGC. Holding one without the other is not enough.

At launch, 22 registered iGaming sites were approved under this system.

Two rules apply on the player's side. Registered operators must make sure that only players physically located in Alberta can play. The legal gambling age in the province is 18, and casino staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25.

Checking an operator

AiGC keeps a directory of the registered iGaming sites in Alberta at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites. Anyone can use it to see whether a given online operator is registered. The test is simple: if an operator is not in the directory, it is not regulated. Approved operators also display the AiGC logo, which is a second sign to look for.

Play Alberta, at PlayAlberta.ca, is the province's own online gaming site. AGLC runs it, and the revenue it earns goes to the Government of Alberta.

Links to official sites are not paid.

Advertising rules and this site

Anyone who advertises an online gaming site in Alberta must follow AGLC's standards. Each ad must carry a responsible gambling message. Ads must not target minors, use people who appear to be minors, or link gaming to attractiveness or status.

This guide carries paid links on its home page only, each marked Ad, and earns a commission from them. All lead to one private online casino chosen by the site's link partner, and that casino can change. It is not Play Alberta, and neither AGLC nor AiGC runs it. The site does not say it is registered in Alberta; like any operator, it can be checked in AiGC's directory. Casinos, AGLC, AiGC and Play Alberta never pay this site.
